Horopito & pepper matched to our versatile and succulent trevally result in a bold and moreish delight.
New to our Ahia hot-smoked fish range, Trevally is our first seasoned fish. Trevally is superb when smoked, and our version is well balanced with a medium smokiness that compliments the naturally full flavoured fish. We have paired it with Horopito and cracked pepper making it very comfortable on an antipasto platter where you can let the delicious melding of flavours do the talking.
A traditional Maori medicine, Horopito imparts a hot, earthy taste and is perhaps unsurprisingly known as "bush pepper".
Trevally is commonly found around the East Cape and has been customary kaimoana of Ngati Porou for generations. Trevally is sustainably harvested right around the coast of the North Island and the top of the South Island.
